Black and Gold: The Perfect Pair

The power of black softened by the radiance and elegance of gold? This combination has a timeless quality and has proven itself in both fashion and interior design. Even more interesting effects can be achieved by pairing black with rose gold. This gives the classic duo a slightly avant-garde touch, providing a chic breath of fresh air.

Black is becoming increasingly popular in interior design, even though it’s considered a challenging color. Used in excess, it can feel visually heavy and needs to be balanced with lighter hues. That’s why a somewhat safer option is to use black in the details—a solution that’s becoming increasingly popular today. Black faucets and shower sets are a good example. They bring a breath of fresh air to minimalist interiors, adding dynamism to a white or gray base. To ensure a sense of cohesion and spatial order, it’s worth repeating the color black in other design elements—such as furniture frames, lighting, coat hooks, handles, and, in the case of bathrooms, shower enclosure frames.

Black and Gold: A Creative Twist

An even more intriguing idea is to complement black with chic accents in shades of gold, brass, and copper. This combination, in fact, brings to mind a fashion classic—such as pairing black outfits with gold jewelry. The FDESIGN brand follows this same approach, offering exquisitely designed faucets, shower sets, and matching accessories in shades of velvety black and rose gold. They can be found in the Zaffiro, Ardesia, and Seppia collections.

– The Ardesia and Zaffiro faucets combine black with rose gold and a glossy finish with a matte one. This contrast lends their forms a sense of lightness. Light reflects beautifully off the copper-toned gold elements, adding radiance to the interior. It also makes the space feel more luxurious. Their geometric shapes suit minimalist and modern interiors as well as more classic ones. It’s safe to say that these faucets are versatile. When paired with stone or wood, they help create a harmonious whole. I could see them in my projects that have a graphic aesthetic, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use them in loft-style interiors either. They have the potential to soften the raw, austere feel of such spaces. The combination of rose gold and concrete can also be very interesting,” says Justyna Smolec, the architect who runs the Justyna Smolec Architektura & Design studio.

Faucets from the Zaffiro collection look particularly striking in bathrooms and kitchens inspired by contemporary urban elegance, where spatial discipline goes hand in hand with carefully selected accents, as well as subtle references to various stylistic conventions—from loft to modern classic. The design philosophy that perfectly unites these diverse inspirations is a unique concept of restraint based not on quantity, but on quality and exquisite, well-thought-out design. The Ardesia collection, in turn, is an excellent choice for lovers of glamour. Black is paired with rose gold, which has been embellished with intricate engraving in the form of tiny hexagons.

Art Deco Style

Black and rose gold also make an attractive pairing for interiors inspired by the Art Deco style. This movement flourished during the interwar period but has remained with us ever since. Why? It was actually the first style that, on the one hand, drew on modern industrial design, while on the other, incorporated classical influences into its designs. As a result, modernism—with its love for simple forms—gained traditional ornamental elements, creatively transformed by the new aesthetic. Today, Art Deco-inspired designs continue to be highly regarded. Interiors in this style are often designed around rich patterns in dark colors, picturesque wood- and stone-effect finishes, as well as sophisticated, geometric accents. In bathrooms and kitchens designed in this style, both the Ardesia faucets and those from the Seppia collection—also available in black with rose gold—fit perfectly.
